A Message from the PTA President
Tuesday, July 29, 2008
Dear Addison Community,

My name is Matt Hunt and I am privileged to serve as your PTA President for the 2008-09 school year. Our PTA Board has worked diligently throughout the summer, planning for the upcoming year. This only begins the process of providing quality extra-curricular activities and opportunities for our children.

PTA is a national organization that is totally run by volunteers. This is true at both the national and individual school levels. Addison PTA is comprised of many dedicated individuals that have the best intentions for our children and community. We recognize that each individual and each family has a finite amount of time they are able to dedicate. This is why I am asking each and every family to make a conscious decision to become involved in your child’s school. The PTA offers just this type of opportunity. Whether you are interested in organizing activities or assisting in the classroom, we can find the volunteer opportunity that will be the most rewarding for you and the children.

Addison PTA has the same type of needs as any non-profit organization. It requires both volunteers and financial resources. To address our financial needs, we will conduct a number of fundraising projects. Our major project is selling Sally Foster products again. Sally Foster continues to provide quality products, online sales and considerable profits. I am asking that each of you participate in this campaign. It provides a significant contribution to our budget which allows us to provide an enhanced level of extra-curricular activities.

Now that we have shared PTAs needs, let’s look at what this PTA can offer you. First, it allows you to build personal relationships with the people in your community. Secondly, it provides interaction with the Addison teachers and staff, which gains you invaluable insight into your child’s educational experiences. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to see your children and their peers enjoy their educational experience first-hand. These opportunities are once in a lifetime, pass by way too quickly and are generally not available to parents in middle school. I encourage you to become involved this year.

As parents and educators we naturally want the very best for our children and school community. In order to achieve this goal, we must share ideas, pool our resources and work together. There are very few things that we can do for our children that will yield a great reward, than turn our energies toward their education. There will be many opportunities to pitch in this year. Please make an effort to contribute where you can. If you have any specific ideas or suggestions, please feel free to call or e-mail me directly at xx.

Be sure to introduce yourselves to the new Board members. I, along with the other members of the board, look forward to meeting you during the upcoming school year Thank you for your time and consideration,

Sincerely,
Matt Hunt
Addison PTA President
